Attributes and variants

Create reusable sizes, colors and materials once, by hand or with AI, and assign them to each product.

Quick answer

Attributes are reusable lists like Size or Color. Open them from Manage attributes on any product. Click New attribute, choose the type (Color or Text) and add values with New value; or click Create with AI and describe the list you need. Then, on each product, choose which values it has. In the store they show up as size and color buttons and as filters.

On this page

An attribute is a characteristic shared by many products: size, color, material. You define it once, and then, on each product, choose which values it has.

Where to find them#

Open any product and, in the Attributes section, click Manage attributes. You'll also find it under More options in the New product panel.

Each card has a value search box, sort order (az), a pencil to edit and a trash icon to delete.

Create an attribute with AI#

  1. Click Create with AI.
  2. Under Description, explain what you need: Sneaker sizes in Colombia, from 36 to 43.
  3. Choose the Type and whether it's a new attribute or you want to Add to existing attribute.
  4. Enter the New attribute name (e.g.: Talla calzado — Shoe size) and click Suggest.

Tip

Keep clothing sizes and shoe sizes as two separate attributes (Talla ropa — Clothing size: S, M, L, XL — and Talla calzado — Shoe size: 36 to 43). That way the store's filters only show sizes that make sense.

Assign values to a product#

In the product editor, each attribute has Search or add…: choose the values that product has (for example 39, 40 and 41, and the color White). Shelfkat shows how many variants (combinations) that generates. See Configure a product.

Note

On the Free plan, each product supports up to 3 sizes and 3 colors. Starter, Business and Pro have unlimited variants.

In the store#

  • The product page shows a group of buttons per attribute so the customer can choose size, color or material.
  • Above the product list, there's a filter per attribute (Talla calzado: Todos — Shoe size: All, Color: Todos — Color: All…).
