Shelfkat

Store

Custom domain

Your free your-store.shelfkat.store address, how to connect a custom domain like yourstore.com, and how to change the favicon.

Quick answer

Every store includes a free address like your-store.shelfkat.store. To use your own domain (yourstore.com) you need the Business plan (1 domain) or Pro (3 domains): go to Settings → Custom domain, add the domain, create the DNS records Shelfkat shows you at your registrar, and click Check now. The favicon (the tab icon) is uploaded on that same page.

Your free address#

Every catalog has an address at your-store.shelfkat.store, built from your store's name. In the example: urbastyle.shelfkat.store. There's always a backup address too: shelfkat.store/c/your-store.

You can change the your-store part under Settings → Name and address → URL identifier.

Custom domain page#

Go to Settings → Custom domain.

Custom domain and favicon

At the top you see your plan and how many custom domains it includes (for example Free plan · 0/0 domains).

Connect yourstore.com#

  1. Buy the domain from whichever registrar you prefer (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Hostinger, etc.).
  2. Under Custom domain, add the domain.
  3. Shelfkat shows you the DNS records to create at your registrar: a verification TXT record and the record that points the domain to Shelfkat.
  4. Create those records in your registrar's DNS panel, exactly as shown.
  5. Go back to Shelfkat and click Check now. DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to propagate.

Note

Your store must be published and your plan active for the domain to work. If the plan expires or you pause the store, the domain stops showing it.

Favicon#

The Site icon (favicon) is the small image that shows in the browser tab, both on your Shelfkat address and on your custom domain. Click Upload .ico or PNG and choose a square image (for example a simplified version of your logo).
