Notify me when back in stock
How the sold-out alert works: the customer leaves their WhatsApp with their consent and you let them know when stock returns, manually or automatically.
Quick answer
When a product is sold out, your customer taps Notify me, leaves their WhatsApp and agrees to receive an alert. When stock returns, Stock notifications shows the queue of ready messages: you send them from the panel or, if your plan has WhatsApp API, they go out automatically.
On this page
A sold-out product does not have to be a lost sale. With this alert the customer waits for it and you learn how much demand there is.
What your customer sees#
- On a sold-out product they see the Notify me button.
- They type their WhatsApp and check that they consent to receive an alert when the product is back.
- They see We'll notify you when it's back.
The product must track stock. It works per product and per variant.
What you see#
Open Sales tools → Stock notifications:
- Subscriptions: who is waiting for each product. The number is partly hidden.
- Notification queue: pending alerts, with the message ready.
Choose how they are sent#
| Channel | How it works |
|---|---|
| Manual (from dashboard) | You review each alert and click Send. WhatsApp opens with the message ready. You can also Skip. |
| Automatic (via WhatsApp) | Shelfkat sends them for you, with a maximum number of alerts per hour. Requires a plan with WhatsApp API and your number connected. |
If the automatic channel is not available, use the manual one.
The alert message#
The message says which product is back, includes your catalog link and a link to stop receiving alerts. The customer can unsubscribe from that link at any time.
Tip
When you restock, open the Notification queue the same day: the people who subscribed are ready to buy.
