Bundles and packs

How to create a bundle of several products at a special price, or a pack of the same product with purchase modalities; what your customer sees and how stock works.

Quick answer

In Sales tools → Bundles and kits click New bundle, give it a name and price, and add the products it includes with their quantity. For a pack of the same product, choose the Base product and turn on its Sales options: Fixed recipe, Assorted, Pick your colors and Single color, each with its own price.

On this page

A bundle sells more products in a single order. You define what it includes and at what price.

Create a bundle#

  1. Open Sales tools → Bundles and kits and click New bundle.
  2. Type the Bundle name and the Bundle price.
  3. With Add product add each item: choose the product, the Variant if it applies, and the Quantity.
  4. Save.

As you type, Shelfkat shows what the products would cost separately and how much the customer saves. If the bundle price is higher than that total, it warns you so you can check it.

Note

A bundle allows up to 10 items. You can repeat the same product with different variants (for example, one red and one black short). You cannot put bundles inside other bundles.

Packs: the same product with modalities#

A pack is a bundle that repeats one product in different variants, for example Shorts x6. Instead of a single way to buy it, you offer up to four modalities and your customer picks the one they prefer. Each modality has one price.

To create it, choose the Base product in the bundle editor and, under Sales options, turn on the ones you want to offer with their units and price.

Fixed recipe#

You define the exact recipe, for example 3 red, 2 black and 1 blue. The customer always gets that mix and chooses nothing.

Assorted#

The customer picks the size and you decide the colors. When the order is confirmed, Shelfkat automatically splits the units among the colors with the most stock of that size. The price is the same for any size.

Before shipping you can adjust the mix: open the order detail and click Change colors. Shelfkat does not notify the customer on its own; if you change the colors and want them to know, message them yourself.

Pick your colors#

The customer splits the units however they like among the available colors and sizes. The price is the same regardless of the mix. For example, 6 shorts picking colors at $150,000.

Single color#

All units are the same color and size. The price is the same whichever color the customer picks.

Note

With the example above, the same Shorts x6 can cost $150,000 when picking colors and $135,000 as Assorted: each modality carries its own price.

What your customer sees#

On the bundle page they see Includes: with each product, the text You save $X and the total if bought separately. On a pack, the store shows from the lowest price among its modalities, and the customer chooses the modality and the mix. In both cases they add it to the cart as a single item.

Bundles and packs have their own price: they do not receive coupons or wholesale pricing.

Stock#

A bundle or pack has no stock of its own: it uses the stock of its components. If a component is not available, the customer sees Not available: product name and cannot order it.

Warning

A bundle cannot track inventory by itself. Stock is deducted from each product that makes it up.

For Assorted, if the product does not track stock by color or the catalog does not track inventory, the color mix is informational only: you decide what you actually ship.
